Vada Pav Recipe
Description
Vada Pav is Mumbai's most iconic street food - a spicy potato fritter sandwiched in a soft pav with green and garlic chutneys. Made with Super Vada Pav Bun for the perfect texture.
Ingredients 13 items
- 4 boiled potatoes (mashed)
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 8-10 curry leaves
- 2 green chillies (chopped)
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- ½ tsp turmeric
- 2 tbsp besan (gram flour)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- 1 cup besan + ½ cup water (for batter)
- Super Vada Pav Buns - 4 pieces
- Green chutney + dry garlic chutney
Instructions 8 steps
- Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin, curry leaves and green chillies.
- Add ginger-garlic paste, turmeric and saute briefly.
- Add mashed potatoes, salt and 2 tbsp besan. Mix well.
- Cool the mixture and shape into round vadas.
- Prepare a smooth batter with besan + water + salt + pinch of soda.
- Dip vadas in batter and deep fry till golden brown.
- Slit Super Vada Pav Bun, spread green and garlic chutneys.
- Place hot vada inside, press lightly and serve immediately.
